Arts and Music Education for Three Elementary Schools (8/13/15)

Through the Turnaround Arts program headed by the US Department of Education, three local public schools - Kalihi Kai, Kamaile Academy, and Waianae Elementary have been selected to be given national funding over the next three years as part of this program to increase academic achievement through the arts. The program helps schools hire art and music teachers, purchase art and musical instruments, and train educators to integrate art and music with the core subjects. This is a great program to spread and encourage the importance of the arts, especially music in every child's education. This is also a step forward in a good direction for music education here in Hawaii.

ACDA Choral Professional Development Day (8/26/15)

The American Choral Directors Association, Hawaii Chapter will be putting on a professional development day, all day next Saturday, 9/5/15 at UH West Oahu. The price to register is $25 for students and if you wish to join the ACDA, you may do so for only $5 more at a cost of $30. This is mandatory for those taking Mus 356 (Choral Methods) and is highly encouraged to everyone else, as you all may end up teaching chorus or choir after you graduate. Who knows?!

Happy Singing!
